After Report: The 9th Gadjah Mada International Conference on Islamic Economics and Business (GAMAICIEB) 2024

On Saturday, September 28, 2024, the 9th Gadjah Mada International Conference on Islamic Economics and Business (GAMAICIEB) was successfully held at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Gadjah Mada. The event featured prominent keynote speakers, including Prof. Mohammad Kabir Hassan, Ph.D., Assoc. Prof. Sutan Emir Hidayat, Ph.D., and Prof. Nurul Indarti, Siviløkonom., Cand. Merc., Ph.D., who provided valuable insights into the theme of the conference: “Islamic Financial Literacy and Inclusion: Dynamics and Advancement in Accounting, Business, and Economics.”

The event was well-attended by participants from various institutions, including academics, researchers, policymakers, and practitioners. GAMAICIEB 2024 comprised two main segments: a plenary session and parallel sessions. The plenary session featured speeches from the keynote speakers, discussing the latest developments and challenges in Islamic finance, business, and economics.

In the parallel sessions, participants presented their research papers on various subtopics within Islamic economics, development, Islamic business, and accounting. The student colloquium provided a platform for young researchers to showcase their work and receive constructive feedback from senior academics and experts in the field.

The conference successfully achieved its objectives of stimulating research in Islamic economics and business while fostering a network of collaboration between scholars, policymakers, and practitioners. It also served as a forum for discussing how to enhance Islamic financial literacy and inclusion in the global economy.

The event was organized by Pusat Kajian Ekonomika dan Bisnis Syariah (PKEBS), Universitas Gadjah Mada, and is expected to serve as a milestone in advancing the field of Islamic economics and business. GAMAICIEB continues to be a leading international forum for sharing research, discussing future challenges, and exploring solutions in the field.
